EWA President Meets GCC Interconnection Authority CEO

Manama: Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, President of the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), met with Ahmed Ali Al Ebrahim, CEO of GCC Interconnection Authority. Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, was present during the meeting that focused on reviewing ongoing regional electricity projects and discussed future strategies to enhance energy infrastructure in Bahrain.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting also examined ways to strengthen cooperation to implement best practices for a more advanced power network. The EWA President emphasised that the GCC electricity interconnection is a strategic initiative that enhances energy sustainability, ensures mutual coverage during emergencies, and reduces power generation costs across GCC states. Additionally, he underscored EWA's commitment to strengthening cooperation with regional counterparts to adopt advanced technologies in electricity and energy networks.

Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan highlighted the strategic importance of the GCC Interconnection Authority's projects in expanding infrastructure and supporting regional development. He noted that the GCC electricity interconnection is one of the most significant integration projects endorsed by the GCC, as it enhances energy security, improves network efficiency, and reduces production costs, ultimately contributing to economic growth and sustainability in the region.
