95 Migrants Rescued After Boat Breaks Down During Channel Crossing Attempt

Dunkirk: French maritime authorities announced on Friday the rescue of 95 migrants whose boat broke down while attempting to cross the English Channel to reach the United Kingdom.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the regional operations, surveillance, and rescue centre in Gris-Nez, northern France, reported multiple migrant boat departures. They noted that one vessel broke apart a few kilometres off the coast of Dunkirk, causing all passengers to fall into the water. Survivors were rescued and taken to the port of Dunkirk, where they were handed over to the relevant authorities.

Official data showed that at least 27 migrants have died this year attempting the Channel crossing between France and Britain, while 36,734 have arrived on British shores from the start of the year until October 21.
