Manama: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, today at Sakhir Palace, received Representative to HM the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and SCYS First Deputy Chairman, President of Bahrain Athletic Association, Honorary President of Bahrain Mixed Marshal Arts Federation, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
HH Shaik Nasser presented to HM the king Bahraini delegation head Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa and members who participated in the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games recently held in Turkmenistan, where Bahrain bagged two gold medals and a bronze from three games took part in.
HM the king congratulated the Bahraini players on their achievements and spirit of determination and completeness, who have demonstrated superiority in various regional and global sport events.
HM the King praised HH Shaikh Nasser’s successful efforts in serving the Bahraini sport movement. He also commended HH Shaikh Khalid’s constant follow-up that contributed to grabbing advanced places in various track and field and mixed martial arts contests.
HM the king lauded the BOC plans and programmes set for upgrading sport movement, which led to bringing many achievements. He also lauded the SCYS and Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry’s efforts to motivate and encourage the youth to join various sports.
HM the king paid tribute to the players who won the medals in Turkmenistan tournament and others of Bahraini sport associations, who have contributed to highlighting Bahrain’s sport standing, which is a source of pride to all Bahrainis. He urged Bahraini athletes to bring more accomplishments to further promote Bahrain’s standing at the global level.
SCYS Sec-Gen Abdulrahman Asker, in his speech, took pride in the royal support for Bahraini athletes, which vastly contributed to winning many sport titles at local, regional and international levels.
He underlined HH Shaikh Nasser’s daily follow-up and keenness to focus on the martial arts games in the Turkmenistan tournament, thanks God the Bahraini players have proven their presence in the jujitsu and freestyle wrestling to boost Bahrain’s standing at Asian level.
He expressed thanks to the delegation head for following up and motivating the players during the campaign. He wished HM the King good health to continue leading the homeland.
