Manama: Work on Muharraq grand park will likely start in the first quarter of next year, it was revealed .
The development project has been included in the 2017-2018 fiscal year, said the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning.
In a statement today, it said that the project would be carried out in two phases following the court ruling which ordered the previous investor to vacate the site.
Bids will be invited for the construction of the fence, which would likely start during the last quarter of this year.
The ministry is now drawing up the engineering designs for work on infrastructure components to start early next year.
The ministry stressed the importance of Muharraq Grand Park, which covers more than 9 hectares, highlighting its prime strategic location near Bahrain International Airport.
It reiterated keenness on developing public gardens and parks and equip them so as to become ideal venues for family entertainment.
