Manama, Sept. 29. (BNA) – GCC Public Prosecutors, Attorney-Generals and Heads of Public Investigation Authorities have concluded their 7th meeting, held here, in the presence of the GCC Assistant Secretary-General for Legal Affairs Hamad bin Rashid Al-Mirri.
Attorney-General Dr. Ali bin Fadhel Al-Buainain opened the meeting and commended the efforts exerted to consolidate judicial cooperation among GCC public prosecutions.
In his statement, Al-Buainain pointed out to the outcomes of the previous meetings during which many issues and principles where approved, which contributed effectively to developing work mechanisms and paved the way for a more constructive cooperation among GCC public prosecutions.
He praised the research and work papers presented during the meeting.
He added that the Public Prosecution in Bahrain is planning to organize training sessions for secretaries-General in the field of electronic investigation in December, 2013, and invited GCC Public Prosecutors, Attorney-Generals and Heads of Public Investigation Authorities to send secretaries-general and specialised officials to attend the event and take advantage of it in order to foster judicial cooperation among GCC states.
A documentary film produced by the General Directorate for Material Evidence at the Public Prosecution was shown and highlighted the Public Prosecution’s bodies’ independence, technical departments and the state-of-the-art world-level technical devices used.
In this regard, those present appreciated the Public Prosecution’s work mechanisms, and praised the independence of the General Directorate for Material Evidence, describing it as an unprecedented step.
Then, GCC Public Prosecutors, Attorney-Generals and Heads of Public Investigation Authorities reviewed the issues on the meeting’s agenda aiming to consolidate joint GCC action.
They agreed to submit a recommendation to the Supreme Council concerning the exchange of members of public prosecution and investigation authorities among GCC states.
They also endorsed the by-law of the Excellence Award for members of public prosecutions and investigation authorities and decided to submit it to the ministerial meeting for approval.
At the end of the meeting, the GCC Public Prosecutors, Attorney-Generals and Heads of Public Investigation Authorities sent cables of thanks and appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the President of the current session of the GCC Supreme Council, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, for the kingdom’s hosting of their meeting and the hospitality and warm welcome allocated to the participating delegations.
They also expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the Attorney-General Dr. Ali bin Fadhel Al-Buainain for his outstanding efforts to ensure the success of the meeting.
They also welcomed the Kuwaiti Attorney-General Dherar Al-Asoussi’s invitation to them to hold their next meeting in the State of Kuwait.
