Moscow: Russia said that it shares with Kuwait similar views on the majority of issues in the Middle East.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s recent talks with senior Kuwaiti officials during his visit to Kuwait showed similarities in their approaches to most issues in the region, the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement.
Both sides stressed the need to end the military and political crises in Syria, Libya, and Yemen, and to resolving the Palestinian-Israeli dispute through dialogue.
Lavrov has also reiterated Moscow’s support for Kuwait’s mediation efforts to end the ongoing rift between Qatar and a Arab countries.
The Russian-Kuwaiti talks also reiterated the commitment of both countries to maintaining an active and confidential political dialogue at various levels, including in the context of electing Kuwait as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for 2018-2019, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
They also stressed the importance of conducting joint action as part of the bilateral intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation and promoting direct contacts in business and bilateral ties in areas, including culture, education, sports, and tourism.
