Foreign Minister Meets Thai Counterpart

New York-Sept 28 (BNA) Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa held a meeting with his Thai counterpart Dr. Surapong Tovichakchaikul, on the sidelines of the 68th session of the UN General Assembly.

He lauded strong bilateral relations, affirming Bahrain’s keenness on bolstering cooperation with East Asian countries, particularly the Kingdom of Thailand.

He hailed the landmark visit of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa to the Kingdom of Thailand in April 2013, which had a positive impact on bilateral cooperation.

He also paid tribute to His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa for laying the foundations of joint cooperation, which boosted the volume of trade and economic exchanges and gave the private sector the opportunity to set up joint ventures.

The two sides discussed latest developments and key issues featuring on the agenda of the 68th session of the UN General Assembly.

Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa stressed the importance of Thailand’s participation in the 12th ministerial meeting of Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) and the 3rd GCC-ASEAN ministerial meeting, scheduled to be held in Manama on November 25 and 26, 2013, in Manama, Bahrain.
