Bahrain to host GCC Social Development Ministers Council meeting

Manama, Sept. 29 (BNA)– Bahrain is ready to host the 30th session of the GCC Social Development Ministers Council on October 1 at the Ritz-Carlton Bahrain Hotel and Spa, Social Development Minister Dr. Fatima Mohammed Al Blushi announced.

The event will be held in coordination with the GCC Executive Bureau and attended by the GCC Social Development Ministers, the GCC Secretary General, representatives from the GCC and Arab League Secretariats General, undersecretaries and the honourees from pioneering institutions in social work inside and outside Bahrain.

The fifth honouring celebration of pioneering projects in the public and private sectors will be held on the sidelines of the session, the minister revealed, stressing that the ceremony reasserts the GCC member states’ wish to boost the principles of social responsibility.

Previously, Bahrain honoured Bahrain Child and Mother Welfare Society, Bahrain Young Lady Association , the Good Word Society and Bahrain Mobility International centre. Bahrain Future Youth Society will be honoured in the fifth edition of the celebration for its project “Smile” which provides psychological support for children with cancer and their parents.

The Social Development Minister will chair in the evening period a joint ministerial meeting of the GCC Social Development and Labour Ministers that will bring under the spotlight key issues of common concern.
