ATTEMPT TO SMUGGLE 68 KILOS OF DRUGS INTO BAHRAIN FROM IRAN FOILED

Two Bahrainis were kept in police custody, after their attempt to smuggle into Bahrain 68 kilograms of drugs worth more than 400,000 Bahraini Dinars (USD 1,060,868) was foiled, the General Director of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science, said.

The smugglers intended to bring the drugs from Iran into the Kingdom via a boat, he added.

Initial details show that two Bahrainis made plans to smuggle drugs into the kingdom, prompting the competent authorities to launch a probe that led to their identification.

Their boat was located and the two smugglers were arrested after receiving the drugs on the high seas.

The case will be referred to the public prosecution, as soon as all legal measures are taken
